Kaneko Kohyo Pottery Manufacturing |
| 1921 | "Kaneko Pottery" was founded by Kohyo Ito on a mountain in Oroshi-cho Asho, Toki District, Gifu Prefecture. |
| 1965– | Orders for warm sake bottles (choshi) used at banquets and taverns increased with Japan's economic growth, reaching production of 130,000 per month and 1.6 million per year, making it the top pottery studio in Japan at the time. |
| 1995– | Began development and production of tableware as lifestyle goods. |
| Mino Ware |
|
Mino ware is the general term for ceramics produced in the Tono region (Toki, Tajimi, Mizunami, and Kani cities) in the southeastern part of Gifu Prefecture. The Tono region is Japan's largest production base for ceramics. In particular, Toki City boasts a share of over 50% of all Japanese ceramics and is known as the number one pottery production town in Japan. As the subdivision of labor progressed throughout the Tono region, each area specialized, technical skills improved, and Mino ware became widely known and distributed across the country, establishing it as a major source of tableware. |

| Understanding our "Vessels" |
|
〇 Because each item is handmade, there are individual differences in color, shape, pattern, size, thickness, and weight. Also, even with the same glaze and clay, variations in color unevenness and shading occur. 〇 As patterns are hand-painted one by one, there may be variations in appearance. 〇 Depending on the product, you may see small holes, tiny black spots, faint lines, protrusions, pinholes, unevenness, or warping due to the manufacturing process. 〇 Product images have been processed to be as close to the actual color as possible, but colors and textures may look different depending on your computer or smartphone display. 〇 We deliver products that have cleared not only the inspections by the manufacturer, studio, and potter, but also our shop's final inspection. 〇 As product photos are samples, each item delivered will not be identical in every detail. 〇 We do not accept returns or exchanges for customer convenience. Thank you for your understanding. 〇 We hope you enjoy the "charm" and "character" unique to handmade items that are not found in mass-produced goods! |
